About the Artist Kelley Batson-Howard

Kelll Batson Howard 2023.jpg

Kelley Batson-Howard was born and raised in Anniston, AL to a farming/commercial greenhouse family where she spent most of her adult years working in that family business. She was transplanted to the Central Florida area when that business moved here in her 20s. She always had artist dreams and was a creative all along the way lending that talent to the sales and marketing of that company. Whether farming food or plants, the farming business is a 24/7 commitment which leaves very little time for creating so that got put on hold until recently. She is a mother of 2 daughters, a wife, and now, an artist.

In the short time Kelley has been applying her creativity and dreams to the canvas, she has had what she considers success at being included in the arts community. She is a member of Florida Women’s Art Association and Marion Cultural Alliance and is an artist member at Leesburg Center for the Arts where she is currently a resident artist. Her work is currently represented by Jane’s Art Center in New Smyrna Beach and she shows her work in and around various locations in Orlando through Artscape. In the last few years she’s exhibited at City Arts, Quantum Leap Winery, Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Lake County Museum of Art, Leesburg Center for the Arts, Mount Dora Center for the Arts, Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center, SOBO Art Gallery, Mulberry Cultural Center, Lake Mary Museum of Art, The Casements, The Brick in Ocala, NOMA Gallery in Ocala, Art Spotlight in Ormond, Ormond Memorial Museum, The Performing Arts Center in Ormond Beach, Galerie Élan, Jane’s Art Center, Orlando Museum of Art via the First Thursday event, and at Art Center Manatee in Bradenton.

She has won awards that always surprise her and has made connections with people on an emotional level with the works she creates. Her goal as an artist is to make those connections and touch people in a positive way. She wants to fill the world with more love and light while getting to fill her soul with the love and completeness she feels while making art. The artist currently resides in Eustis, Fl where she keeps a private studio. She is also currently an artist in residence at The Leesburg Center for the Arts where you can visit during center hours or by appointment.
