Salute to Veterans

Our 2024 Salute to Veterans will be Saturday, November 9th.  

We are excited to announce that the event will include a half-size replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which will be on display in Ferran Park from Friday, November 8th through Sunday, November 10th. 

The original memorial is neoclassical, white marble sarcophagus  which stands atop a hill overlooking Washington, D.C. Since 1921, it has provided a final resting place for one of America’s unidentified World War I service members, and Unknowns from later wars were added in 1958 and 1984. The Tomb has also served as a place of mourning and a site for reflection on military service. The replica offers and opportunity for visitors to experience this tribute closer to home. The display will be open Friday, November 8th (24 hours) and Sunday, November 10th (24 hours) for those who want to have a quieter, peaceful moment to reflect and remember. Saturday, November 9th our annual Salute to Veterans event will take place (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), but the memorial will remain available for viewing throughout the day.  

Additional activities include the 2-Mile Dash, sponsored by our Eustis Parks and Recreation Team. Run in honor of your favorite Veteran or to support the many youth programs hosted by the City of Eustis.  Register early to save $5. The annual parade will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, and will head down Eustis Street from Gottsche Ave. to Woodward Ave., and the Ceremony of Honor on the bandshell stage immediately following at 3:00 p.m. The Florida Military Vehicle Heritage Group will return with a terrific display of history, and food, arts and crafts vendors will be on display throughout the day.
