REMINDER: The first day of school in Eustis and Lake County is Monday, August 12, 2024. In addition to the school zone speed cameras on Orange Avenue, more cameras have been added on Bates Avenue and on Washington Avenue. The cameras are activated during the entire school day and tickets are issued if a driver is going more than 10 mph over the posted speed limit. During the opening and closing hours of the school day, the limit is 20 mph and during the remainder of the school day, drivers must go no more than 10 miles over the posted speed limit for the street. All tickets are $100 and payable in 30 days. According to Eustis Police Chief Craig Capri, "The cameras are there for the safety of the children. It's all about saving lives."
