Lake County Solid Waste Mobile Unit Collection

The Solid Waste Mobile Unit collection is offered twice a year by Lake County. Collection for our area is schedule on August 8, 2024 and pick-up will be held at Walmart, 17030 US Hwy 441, Mt. Dora. Only household hazardous waste items will be accepted. Check the accepted items list ahead of time to make sure the items you plan to bring can be discarded.

Accepted Items < 10 Gallons Per Item

  • Poisons, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, and insecticides
  • Used motor oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, gasoline, diesel fuel, antifreeze, freon, kerosene, 1 pound of propane bottles and automobile batteries
  • Paint, paint thinners, paint strippers, wood preservatives
  • Aerosol cans, fire extinguishers
  • Rechargeable household batteries, including button batteries
  • Swimming pool and spa chemicals
  • Fluorescent light bulbs, thermostat switches, smoke detectors, other mercury-containing devices
  • Household chemicals and cleaners

Items Not Accepted 

  • Ammunition and explosives (accepted at Landfill only)
  • Unknown materials or liquids Biohazardous/Medical waste (Lake County Dept Health- Information)
  • Propane tanks or gas cylinders (accepted at Central Solid Waste Facility)
  • Waste generated by a business (accepted at the Landfill only on Wednesdays)
  • Computers/Monitors (accepted at Landfill)
