Nan Cobb has tendered her resignation from the Eustis City Commission, effective June 11, 2024.
In her letter of resignation, Cobb states, “It has been my greatest honor to serve the residents of Eustis as their Seat 4 Commissioner. I look forward to continuing to represent them as the next State Representative from District 26.”
Cobb’s term is expiring December 31, 2024, and the election for that seat is scheduled for November 5, 2024. She had previously announced that she would not seek re-election to the Eustis City Commission in order to run for the State House of Representatives District 26. The House seat is being vacated by Representative Keith Truenow, who is seeking election to the Florida Senate District 13.
On Thursday, June 13, the Eustis City Commission discussed the vacancy and considerations for filling the opening. As the term is set to expire, the regular election for the seat is scheduled for the November general election. The consensus of the City Commission at the June 13 meeting was to review qualified candidates for the vacant seat following the close of the general election qualifying period, which runs from noon on August 5 to noon on August 9. The Commission will then appoint an interim Commissioner to serve until the newly-elected Commission is sworn in on January 2, 2025.The election for the full-term will take place on Tuesday, November 5, with the winning candidate taking office in January 2025.
Cobb, a longtime resident and business owner in Eustis, served on the Commission for three and a half years from January of 2021 to June of 2024.
